What is this on the Kanji wall scroll?
I am learning how to draw these types of works and was curious, in a wallscroll like this http://www.orientaloutpost.com/proddetail.php?prod=1CSAI What is the smaller text next to the bigger symbol? What does it mean? Thank you.
The bigger letter: 愛 (love)
The smaller letters: 丹青
丹青 by itself means “red and blue”, “coloring” or “painting”, but in this case it seems pretty much like the name (or pen name) of the person who wrote/drew this.
Just for your information, the description on the page is a bit incorrect; it’s true the character 愛 is read like “eye” in Chinese and Japanese, but in Korean it’s spelt “ae”, and is pronounced like “e” as in bed.
