Farmers plow their fields with yaks, sheep grazing on the vast plains, impressive sand dunes and rocky hills in the distance are the scenic rewards trip.
Tashilhunpo Monastery, built in 1447 by the first Dalai Lama, Shigatse is the most important cultural and religious. The main structures in the monastery of Tashilhunpo is Maitreya Chapel, the Palace of the Panchen Lama, Kelsang Temple. Tashilhunpo is the seat of Panchen Lama since the Fourth Panchen Lama took charge in the monastery, and now there are about 800 lamas.
