The fact that we know virtually nothing about the man named Jesus had none of the four Gospel accounts left by his disciples easily escapes attention in a world whose name is so well known and respected. Such is our dependence on the Gospel accounts of the lives of his disciples, friends and some even cynical have gone so far as to ask questions about the historicity of Jesus. The Gospel does not help either. the career of Jesus, in four books, beginning rather abruptly when, in middle age, not thirty, began his public ministry in cities and towns of Galilee rustic.
The name of Jesus of Nazareth reveals that this was a native of the city of Nazareth. He was executed by authorities at the age of thirty-three and a half. Everything we know about the thirty-three and a half years of his life, so therefore the last three years and through him.
It seems rather strange that, in addition to Matthew (whose rather superficial account of the child Jesus and family history tastes essentially mythical, legendary), has seen fit to give us a glimpse of Jesus' early life and history.
What kind of man was indeed the man Jesus of Nazareth? The medieval image a god-man effeminate and slightly sweet sweet Jesus, dominates his public image. However, just evidence in the Gospels, the lean, sad-eyed, butter does not melt in your mouth-your-personality influential popularized in the movie "King of Kings." When you get closer to Jesus independent of the Gospel accounts of prejudice, we find a radically different personality: a nearly fierce iconoclast fiery, temperamental, passionate agitator who have appeared in the "Be careful with the civil authorities Messiah, decided to tip the precarious boat Pax Romana. Otherwise, why the authorities should have been so eager to get rid Sadducee it came to a farcical trial and an acceleration in the midst of a religious holiday important, and has insisted on nothing less than execution by the Roman authorities?
A random read the Gospel accounts of Jesus' confrontation with the civil authorities of his time reveals a bold personality, stubborn and irascible at times spoken with a militant and aggressive disposition.
militant available Jesus, who led the authorities concerned for him, is demonstrated in its use of physical force in the temple precincts. The gospel accounts tell us that he was expelled a large number of never sinks, a strange and volatile mixture merchants, charlatans, thieves, thugs and bandits who infested the streets in the temple premises a good deal, probably with the connivance of officials is the temple which had a profit of protection money ", as is usual in such circumstances. Writers of the Gospels give us the impression that what he did to himself. This is very doubtful. Anyone who knows how to organize the "protection" of trade unions operating urban environments means that Jesus must have used the service of a band of thugs, at least on this occasion.
Jesus apparently had the covert support a group of Pharisees in the Jewish Council. But the evidence of the Gospels, is that he has not made things easy for them more. He simply refused to recognize division of the Jewish Council of enemies and friends. For him, it was white or black, not in the middle tones. The sharp tip of the tongue on the stone, especially the Pharisees, that seemed to have been willing to give him a chance to prove their worth. One can only imagine the shame men like Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea to Jesus Frequently Pharisees too hard:
"Shame on you Pharisees! You hypocritical rogues. You blind men Guard. Whitewashed tombs … brood of vipers!
It's easy for a Christian today to read the scenes vehement diatribes against the Pharisees as recorded in the Gospels, without acknowledging The severity of these scenes. The fact is that the Pharisees were a fully fledged institution in the days of Jesus. The group was highly respected by all classes of Jewish society. They were kept in esteem, even by ordinary people.
One is strongly tempted to imagine how Jesus is portrayed in the Gospels, a man who was radically different from the person usually think it is. Why do all the Evangelists carefully avoided telling us anything about the details of his childhood and background family? Matthew, that affect the way on the subject, we have lost in a fog of beautifying child. Matthew's story of the virgin birth is more like an apology for events doubtful about the circumstances of the birth of Jesus. Apparently, Jewish traditions, that Jesus was an illegitimate child who grew up a rogue. The circumstances birth and early life was not to be considered "respectable." This explains the silence of the Gospels on the details of his birth and background family. He also explains their tendency to associate with the company "Bad Reputation": tax collector, tax collectors, prostitutes and sinners different. Recall the incident in which his disciples were embarrassed to find in a lively debate with a famous woman of Samaria.
Bits and pieces of fact accumulate. Jesus was a homeless street race who tore his followers established professions and vagabonds as he did ("The foxes have holes, birds have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head "). It is unlikely that the millions of people around the world now adore as God had deemed worthy of a high degree if they had met in person.
Jesus, Oh What A Wonderful Child
