This book is the essential guide for collectors and casual charm. "Charms and trinkets The Complete Guide" is a hardcover book published by Schiffer in 2005. The author, Joanne Schwartz and photographer, Robert N. Schwartz has done a brilliant job of packing the history books charms belt covering the 19th century until today. They also discuss makers, styles and current values, and includes more than 300 breathtaking color photographs bracelets and charms.
On the inside cover front cover is a brief biography of Joanne Schwartz. The first paragraph reads: "Schwartz is an avid collector of antique jewelry and vintage. His personal library contains more than 100 catalogs of vintage jewelry, and is a member of the Society of Jewelry Historians. "
From his extensive knowledge and library, which has created this complete and entertaining guide that was my first "must have" reference for jewelry, and remains my favorite. Reading the table of contents provides an overview of the wealth of information contained in these pages.
The first examines the performance various vintage charms, including materials, manufacturing processes, and ornaments. The second part tells the story of the 1900s when Castilian and see bracelets stand became, until the 1960s and beyond. The third part focuses on particular categories of Stanhope's charms, hearts, memories Travel, and those with moving parts. And fourth, my favorite is the charm catalog, which is loaded with many other "baba before" Some Collections charming first. There are also several appendices in the back that help identify the perpetrators and different types of spells.
The technical advisor for the book was Joan Munkacsi. It has also provided many examples of her collection beautiful bracelet personal point of view to be used through the book. Joan unfortunately died last year, but his legacy is also to collectors of charm through its contribution to this book, and the panel of an ancient spell on eBay, founded for her.
I think this book is a collector's item in itself, for a sample of coffee table and a guide to research. You want to have a separate copy of the investigation but because I assure you that the pages seem very popular in a short period of time. It is considered by many to be the charm collection "Bible" and is an excellent resource for jewelry collectors worldwide.
