Is receiving holy communion / eucharist an important part of being a Christian ?
When Jesus provided the bread and wine at the last supper, it was after the passover meal had been completed. He said that his followers should also do the same (break the bread and pass the cup) “in remembrance of me” which sounds like a commandment to me.
